Portugal celebrated its National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai , with a series of cultural activities, In the presence of Francisco André, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, H.E. Reem Al Hashimi, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai.
H.E. Reem Al Hashimi welcomed the Portuguese delegation to the flag-raising ceremony at Al Wasl Plaza’s Stage of Nations and praised the strong relations between the UAE & Portugal.
The lineup of events during the ceremony featured an exclusive performance at Al Wasl Plaza of the Portuguese artists Marta Pereira da Costa, Mestre António Chainho and Teresa Salgueiro.
At the end of the official ceremony, the Secretary of State and the Emirati delegation visited the Portugal and UAE pavilions.On Portugal’s National Day, which was celebrated yesterday, January 14th, at @expo2020dubai , the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, left a video message congratulating the organisation of this exhibition and advocating a strengthening of bilateral relations. “I would like to stress the importance that Portugal attaches to the strengthening and continued development of bilateral relations with the United Arab Emirates , a country with which we share the idea of an international order based on common values, and where Portuguese companies continue to grow and prosper. Congratulations, Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Portugal”, he said.

Some highlights for Portugal´s National Day Ceremony celebrated at Expo 2020 Dubai yesterday, with the flag-raising ceremony at the Stage of Nations, in Al Wasl Plaza, followed by speeches, special cultural performances with the unique sound of Fado and the Portuguese guitar, and official visits to the Portugal and UAE Pavilions.
Connecting through music, culture, economy and its people was the key message throughout the celebrations, as Portugal showcased its strengths at Expo’s global stage.
